Seasonal Plant Swap

Spring is a great time to transplant hostas and ferns. Share plants and gardening paraphernalia and meet your gardening neighbors. Even if you don’t have anything to share, we usually have plenty of leftovers that need a home. For more info contact Paul Quaintance at paquaintance@yahoo.com or 773-750-6928.

Inspired by our annual EGA Garden Walk with its ‘world of plants and the magic that they can bring to even the smallest of urban yards’ Norwood neighbor Tom Brennan organized our first plant exchange that was held Sept. 21, 1991, in the park on Greenview & Elmdale. It was so enthusiastically received, that it was quickly expanded into a twice-a-year event, spring & fall, and moved to Tom’s plant-filled yard.

When Tom had to leave our neighborhood in the late 90s, Sue Green and Kim Kaulas continued this popular event in Sue’s backyard. Weather permitting, the Spring Plant Swap is usually held on the Saturday morning of Memorial Day weekend & the Fall Plant Swap is a Saturday in mid-September.

It’s a chance for beginning-to-experienced gardeners to meet & share horticultural treasures, and gardening paraphernalia, and socialize.
